Description
Breathtaking views through this fine pair of WWII German U-Boat 8x60 binoculars with maker’s mark blc (Carl Zeiss-Jena).They were built in very small numbers and typically used by the U-boat captain (these do not have a rangefinding reticle) while on patrol.
Exterior condition is very good considering its age and past use aboard German submarine. These original, massive (5 pound, five ounce) pair of U-boats are in excellent working order. Main hinge and focusers work smoothly. View is crystal clear, bright, and focus tack sharp. No internal dust, fungus, or prism chips. Right side Bakelite eyecup shows a small chip and a repaired crack.
Any original paint loss is due to handling. Collimation appears correct (no double vision) although they have not been bench tested.
Highly regarded by binocular, U-boat, and WWII
collectors, these Zeiss U-Boat Kriegsmarine 8x60s come with a modern black, soft-sided zippered nylon carry case (not shown). Nothing else is included.
