Description

I honestly have no idea exactly what this binocular's history is other than my father told me about 60+ years ago that they are "German military binoculars" that he acquired during the war and they have been packed away ever since. Could have been WWI or WWII since he served in both. I have inspected them with magnifying glass and intensive light and cannot find any engraved information. logo or manufacturer identifiers; however, much of the exterior finish is gone, especially where the soldier's hands would have held them. The glasses obviously had a lot of hard field use as they are dirty and there are dents on the metal rims of both the small and large lenses. (I have been told not to clean antiques.) Glasses also come with a very old dried spider...maybe German... inside one of the lenses. I am not sure if the black pebble finish case is leather or cardboard. Inside the top flap it has W 0077 ink stamped in black, but I am not sure the glasses and case even go together as there appears to be very faint stamp of U.S Patent number (maybe) which is not legible on the underside of the silver clasp.
Even if you are not interested in a purchase, I would appreciate any information you might know regarding the glasses
