    Description

Vintage Faultless Lee Trevino MVP Iron Set 2-9. Thank you for looking. This particular set is in excellent condition and is drop dead gorgeous, especially considering it is well over 40 years old. They are still sporting what appears to be original shafts (with intact shaft labels), what appear to be original grips in good condition, and original ferrules. The only visible flaws are hilighted in the pictures… trailing end of the 6 iron hosel, and leading edge of the 9 iron. From our research we beleive this set was only produced between 1974-1976. ( at the height of the Merry Mex’s popularity). 5 of his 6 majors came between 1968-1974…the final coming in 1984. The story behind “Faultless” is quite interesting….in 1972 at a cocktail party officials of Abbott Labs (owners of Faultless Golf) struck a deal with Globetrotter Communications of Chicago…(yes they owned “The Globetrotters” basketball team), they retained their marquee player, Lee Trevino and started marketing golf clubs. It was a relatively short run, in 1976 Faultless was bought by ATO (the parent company that owned Rawlings, and Toney Penna Golf) and the “Faultless” name was retired.
That started Lee Trevinos relationship with Rawlings. This set would make an excellent addition to your golf collection, and is still a bery playable set if you play in a vintage league or vintage tournaments.
