    Description

This item is an antique vintage right-handed 31” wood shaft putter. It is an unusual circa 1900 Patented gunmetal head putter. Marked Willie Dunn’s Pat Appl’d For Rotary Putter on the top. A copy of the 1900 Patent is pictured. The head is quite interesting with a wide top and bottom flange, hollow back and an under slung convex face. The idea was to impart topspin to the ball. The sod gunmetal head is in food vintage condition. Not many of the expected nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old apparently original hickory.
The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. The grip is a newer long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition. Jeff Ellis sold one of these in his 2007 Sotheby’s auction for almost 00. In his description, Jeff notes that fewer than 5 of these were known to exist at that time. An unusual and rare putter indeed.
Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3
    -pound
box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.  Due to the high value a handling fee has been added.
