Unusual Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft Patented JH Taylor Billiard Cushion Putter

This item is a 34" right handed antique vintage hickory shafted putter. It is faintly Cann&Taylor with J H Taylor's autograph. Also marked Patent Applied For 27807 and Billiard Cushion Putter. Very unusual style and head design. A very wide blade, both at the top line and at the sole with a bit of off-set to it. It has a beveled top line with a substantial slant towards the striking face. The striking face actually has negative loft. Interesting diamond and dot face scoring. You don't see this Patent club offered very often.
The head is clean and in good vintage condition.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. It has a bend, I see no cracks, and it has some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in fair
vintage
condition. A quite heavy D 2 swingweight for play.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
