    Description

    This item is a 39 1/4"
    right-handed
hickory shafted early unusual smooth face iron. It is a deep face low lofted iron marked Mashie Cleek. First one of these i have seen and looks like a Driving Mashie to me.
24* Loft and a C 0 swingweight. Made in Scotland by Robert Condie of St Andrews. Has the rose cleek mark. Made for Slazenger, NY to retail.
The head is in good clean vintage condition. Shows the expected play nicks and play dings.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. It is
    straight
, I see no cracks, and it is tight at the hosel. Always re-set hickory irons prior to play.
The grip an old long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition. Outstanding unusual club.
If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3
    -pound
box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.
