Description
This listing is for a very unusual 9 club set of aluminum headed clubs. I have never seen anything quite like this. Some of the clubs have names and/or numbers on them and some are blank. I suspect a made scientist type golf tinkerer made these for play. I call them a set because the lofts are all different. Some are intended to be long irons and some short irons. The shafts are all steel and they appear to be from the 1920's as some of the shafts are the early Bristol steel with copper coating (what is left of the coating). The leather grips also appear to be from the 1920's. All of the clubs are fairly close in length so maybe the maker was one of the earliest single length iron advocates. Made him happy and probably worked for him. Look at all the zoom pictures and you will see the maker experimented with all kinds of weighting adjustments by hollowing out or drilling holes in the aluminum heads. Pleaselook at the multiple zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. They are all well used. Very interesting display set. Haven't had a chance to hit them but it might be fun. Your playing partners would be amazed if you showed up at the course with these.
Shipping in the US is calculated for this item and based on an 11 pound box. The closer you are to me in NC (27712 zip) the less shipping will be. This is the way the carriers work and unfortunately shipping has become more expensive recently. On top of that, most buyers don't realize that eBay and Paypal take almost 15% of what I receive as stated shipping (out of I only receive .50). Ebay now collects sales tax for many states.
