Below is the information, received from the Historian at the Karsten Ping Company in Arizona.
"
The putter in question was most likely made sometime after early 1973. Karsten continued to use the "Scottsdale" LH Anser mold for a longer period of time than he did the right-hand version. I believe that because the demand for left-handed putters was quite a bit lower, he didn't feel the need to make a new "Phoenix" master right away after moving the business out of the garage in late 1966.

The grip in the photos is from early 70's timeframe. A 6-1/2" first step is not unusual for Anser putters. The first step measurement varies on the Anser. Sometimes because the suppliers could not deliver, we would switch to a different shaft to keep production moving. At that time, Karsten was just trying to keep up with demand. A lot of the putters from that time in our archive have a first step measurement of 6 1/2" or 6 3/4". I doubt that the putter has been re-shafted. The shaft label on the putter looks timeframe correct also. The zip code on the shaft label is the best clue. Ping did not start using that zip code until 1973.

The Condition is
Very Very Good,
and the Putter is in its Original form from the Manufacture. The
Zip Code 85029
was used in the 1960's as well. Any questions, "Contact Me & Thank You"
