Description
This item is a 41"right-handed
original hickory shafted wood. A very deep faced spoon. Made by Kroydon and marked Kroydonite on the crown. This was Kroydon's head treatment method which was very similar to the MacGregor Oil Hardening process. Also marked Matt Keogh on the crown.
Very g
ood vintage
condition. Refinished by expert club restorer John Gates of St Augustine, FL a number of years ago. John is often acknowledged as the best wood restorer and hasn't done any work for a good while. Buy one of his works of art while you can still find them. Not sure this club has been played with since the restoration.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is the apparently original hickory.
It is straight,
I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. Feels like a stiff flex. The grip is the apparently original long leather wrap that is in very good vintage condition. 16* loft and a B 2 swingweight. A truly lovely display club you could also use. Great Christmas gift for the golfer.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These old wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts or heads against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3
-pound
box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.
