Antique Wood Shaft Hendry&Bishop Scotland Unusual Back Dreadnought Niblick E 4

This item is an antique vintage right-handed 36 1/4" wood shaft iron. It is a lined face large headed Dreadnought niblick. It has a very unusual, bisected back weighting with more weight in the center of the club. Made by Hendry&Bishop of Edinburgh Scotland. Bishop's hat cleek mark. 53* loft and a very heavy E 4 swingweight. The head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected play nicks and dings and some discoloration. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old apparently original hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is a newer long leather wrap that has been set up for play. Nice looking club.
If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.

box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.
