Description
I just received a large group of playable antique clubs and some accessories from an individual who was in the hickory event rental business and will be posting them on eBay over the next several months. Be sure to check back often. This item is an antique vintage right handed 34 1/4" wood shaft putter. A heel shafted beveled toe and heel blade. Maker obscured by lead tape. The head is in good clean condition. Yes it has the expected play nicks and dings but is not damaged. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. The grip is a newer long leather wrap that is in good playable condition. C 0 swingweight. This putter has a large heavy grip and feels counterweighted.
Made playable by Jay Harris, formerly of Pinehurst. Jay has retired from the golf business but while he was active he professionally assembled and restored numerous hickory clubs for play. He paid close attention to weight (not only swingweight but also the all important total weight) and detail when making clubs playable. If the original shaft was good he used it. If he felt the club needed a new shaft he installed a new Louisville Golf hickory shaft. He felt Louisville made the best available shafts.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage (already done on this club). These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 2 pound box. This item shipped Priority Mail. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the USPS charges. On top of that, eBay and Paypal take almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. Shipping to foreign countries (CANADA, GREAT BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA AND SWEDEN) will be higher and is also calculated.
