    Description

This item is an antique vintage right handed 35 1/2" wood shaft wedge. It is an early smooth face niblick. Marked Magic Niblick on the back. Made by Anderson of Anstruther (circle cleek mark). Royal Crown brand. A very interesting style to this niblick. A straight leading edge with a thin top and bottom portion with the weight concentrated in the center (top to bottom center) of the club. A very high 62* loft and a C 7 swingweight. No doubt in my mind that this was designed as a Stymie Niblick. You don't see these very often. The head is clean and not all rusted but does have some uniform micro pitting. It does have the expected play nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is a newer long leather wrap that has been installed for play. A must own collectible club.
If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 2 pound box. This item shipped Priority Mail. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the USPS charges. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. Shipping to foreign countries (CANADA, GREAT BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA AND SWEDEN) will be much higher and is also calculated.
