This listing is for an antique vintage hickory shaft iron. It is a lined face driving iron. Made in the forge of the highly skilled club maker Tom Stewart of St Andrews, Scotland. Has his famous Pipe cleek mark. 39 1/4” length, 21* loft and a D 2 swingweight. The head is in good clean condition with the expected minor play nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory and could very well be original. It has a bend, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel (always re-set heads before hickory play). The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in fair vintage condition.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with the hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. I also suggest that all hickory shafts be re-set prior to play. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated for this item and based on a 3-pound 42x5x5 box. The closer you are to me in NC (27712 zip) the less shipping will be. This is the way the carriers work and unfortunately shipping has become more expensive recently. On top of that, most buyers don't realize that eBay takes almost 15% of what I receive as stated shipping (out of I only receive .50). eBay also charges Sales Tax for many States and I never see that money even though eBay charges me 15% of what they collect for Sales tax.
