This item is a 38 1/4" right handed small headed niblick. Approximately  2 1/2" x 2". People often mistakenly call these rut niblicks. Marked R Condie St Andrews with Condie's Rose cleek mark.
It is a 56* loft and a G+ (off the scale) swingweight. You want old and heavy niblick then this is old and heavy. Very large and thick hosel that is not uniformly round. A sign of a truly blacksmith hand made iron. This is an early club with a very upright lie angle. Though not pre 1890 it is made in that style. Condie was making clubs at other maker's forges before 1890 so he had plenty of training in the old style heads. The head is in good condition.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. It has a very minor bend, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel. The grip is a replaced long leather wrap. If you want to buy a top quality hand made iron then buy a Condie made club. Great visual display club that you could also use in your NHC gutty paly set.
If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage (already done on this club). These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
