This item is a 34"
right-handed
hickory shafted smooth concave face wedge. It is a Sand Wedge/Niblick. 56* loft (approximate) and an E 9 swingweight. Made by Walter Hagen and it is their concave sand wedge that was banned soon after Bobby Jones used one to with his 1930 Grand Slam. One of the earliest attempts at a sand wedge.
The head is in good clean vintage condition. Shows the expected play nicks and play dings and some plating wear. Much better than most you see offered.
Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is the old original hickory. It is
straight
, I see no cracks, and it is tight at the hosel. Always re-set hickory irons prior to play.
The grip is the original old very long leather wrap that is in very good vintage condition. The grip has been waxed and whipped. Great display club.
If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.

box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of I receive .50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.
