7 Club Set Antique Wood Shaft MacGregor OA Irons For Play

Just received several
sets
from a
long-time
hickory player. He normally acquired quality sets and has decided to move some on for others to enjoy.
This listing is for a 7-club set of hickory shafted clubs. All of the clubs were made by MacGregor and all but one are from their OA Model with the desirable wide flanged soles. Included (with their play specs) are a Mid Iron 38 3/4" Length 22* Loft and D 3 Swingweight, another Mid Iron 38" 30* D 4, a Mashie 37 1/4" 37* D 7, another Mashie 37" 45* D 5, a Mashie Niblick (this one is from the MacGregor Popular Model and also has good sole width) 36 3/4" 50* D 3, a Niblick 36" 52* D 7 and a Putter 34 3/4" D 1. Lots of lofts with good loft gaping for the variety of shots you will want to hit when playing hickory golf. The heads on all the clubs are in good clean condition with the expected play nicks and dings. Please be sure and look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shafts are all old hickories that have been restored and re-set for play. Many have their original MacGregor shaft stamps. I see no cracks in any of them. The grips have all been replaced for play. Whipping has been added for strength. This work was done by Bill G. from Florida (except on the niblick), as it was his personal play set, and I can assure you he does good work. I sold them for Bill G and they were purchased by the famous Lang Willie of Pinehurst, NC. Willie has too many clubs, so these are now back on the market. Willie kept the niblick that came with the set so the included niblick has been added and all the work for play has been done to it as well.
If you are considering playing with this set, while I see no issues with these hickory shafts (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage (already done on most of these). I also suggest that all hickory shafts be re-set prior to play (already done). These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
Shipping in the US is calculated for this item and based on a 9-pound 46x6x6 box via UPS Ground. The closer you are to me in NC (27712 zip) the less shipping will be. This is the way the carriers work and unfortunately shipping has become more expensive recently. On top of that, most buyers don't realize that eBay takes almost 15% of what I receive as stated shipping (out of I only receive .50). eBay also charges Sales Tax for many States and I never see that money even though eBay charges me 15% of what they collect for Sales tax. Because of the high value there is a handling fee.
