This is the only know set of MacGregor/Ben Hogan Tourney irons.  The ONLY known MacGregor/Ben Hogan Tourney irons of ANY year.  If you try a Google search for MacGregor Ben Hogan Tourney irons, this is the only set that will show in the search results.
Dating back to the 1920's MacGregor marketed it's golf clubs through both traditional retail stores and golf club pro shops.  But, their best clubs were sold only through pro shops.  The best irons were the Tourney model and the only pros whose names graced the Tourney irons were Tommy Armour and Byron Nelson.  Ben Hogan model irons bore such names as Master and ParMaker and were sold through department stores and sporting goods stores.  No Ben Hogan Tourney irons are known to have ever been sold.  The MacGregor catalogs do not show any Ben Hogan Tourney irons.  However, it is believed that before 1948 Hogan, like most MacGregor staff pros, played the Tourney irons and had their names stamped on their personal sets.  I'm unable to prove it but, it seems likely that these were Ben Hogan's personal clubs.
Now, the specifics of these particular irons:  There are only 6 of these irons, the 2,3,4,7,8,and 9.  The 5 and 6 are missing.  They are in beautiful condition, an earlier owner having had them reconditioned including new True Temper shafts.  The 8 iron has roughness on the sole that shows through the new chrome.  The refinisher chose to leave the roughness rather than grind it out and lose detail on the club.  I haven't put a gauge on them but, the lie is obviously flat.  Surprisingly, the clubs set up to a ball really well and feel like they can still do the job.
Sold "as is" and "no returns".
